How has your week been? I hope you have been able to set aside some time for studying. Over the next 9 weeks I will cover the next 6 chapters and answer any questions you have along the way.
This Week
This week, I will be focusing on the second chapter, Organizational Effectiveness (OE).
OE is a hybrid that combines elements of Organizational Behaviour (OB), Organizational Development (OD) and Organizational Psychology (OP).
The Approach:
A good way to get a handle on this subject matter would be to do the questions and activities in the Study Guide as well as case studies from OB/ OD textbooks - independent research will broaden your understanding of the topics within this area. Simply trying to remember terms independently doesn’t develop the kind of retention you will need. Don’t forget to use the Online Learning Module for study tips that will help you to retain and recall the concepts from the Study Guide.
Week 3 Update
This week – consider your own organization over the past few years. What organizational changes have been experienced? What has been the impact on HR’s role?
In your study groups, try thinking of an organizational change that took place, or is taking place, in your organizations – not all the details just an overview.
Given that scenario, create a short case study and try to apply OB/ OD terms in how you would approach the changes that are taking, or took, place.
